I am very proud to be an American and I love anything patriotic so.....
this is what I came up with for this summer.
Although I still struggle with the 'crackle method' I am learning and I am fairly happy with the way these turned out.

Ok... We kinda forgot to order the cake ahead of time so our choices were limited. The soccer cake was the lesser of many evils but it sure tasted good!GGGOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL!
Chalkboard
I wanted to make a cute chalkboard for Isaacs room so I've been experimenting a bit. This was the result...... I dont think it quite works for a boys room but it could be cute in a kitchen area.......

Candy Topiary Tree Tutorial
I have received lots of questions regarding the Candy Topiary Tree so I snapped a few pictures and threw together this quick tutorial. I don't have a finished product (gave them all away) but there is a picture down a little lower in my blog of a finished tree. If you have questions please feel free to contact me!

Materials Needed
styrofoam ball (not too big or it will become too top heavy)
candy (any wrapped candy works great - salt water taffy is my favorite but I couldn't find any!....and I live 20 minutes from Salt Lake City... that's kinda weird)
ribbon
straight pins
school glue
pot/bucket/planter
dowel or stick (my son found me some really great thick sticks. They were not perfect in shape but looked really cute)
oasis or styrofoam (for stability inside pot)
moss (or I have used easter grass, tissue paper, shredded tissue paper, glass or acrylic marbles/stones - anything will do)
Push pin through the wrappers of three candies.
Place a small amount of glue on the end of the pin and push pin into styrofoam ball.
Cut ribbon (approximately 4" you can adjust to what you like and what works with the candy you are using.) Tie loose knot. (I use two colors per pin and I don't knot the bottom piece.)
Push a pin through center of both ribbons and use to 'fill-in' bare areas. I fill the entire ball with candy first and then go back and place ribbon where needed. You can use whatever type of ribbon you want and tie them however you choose. There is really no right or wrong.
Leave an area at the bottom of ball for approximately 1" dowel (you can use any size you like just as long as its sturdy enough to hold the candy filled styrofoam ball in place).
Push dowel securely into ball.
Fill pot with oasis and firmly push the dowel and attached styrofoam ball into the oasis filled pot. (not pictured)
I like to tie loose bows with a couple streamers to place on the underside of the ball near where the dowel is inserted. The streamers will hang down along the dowel.
I make three bows and pin them in evenly around the dowel.
I placed glue on top of the oasis in the pot and laid down some moss.
I also used my cricut to make a little "Thank You" sign that I placed on to a bamboo skewer and stuck into the moss covered oasis in the pot (only a couple inches tall). You dont even need to use the cricut for this step ~ You can write your message or use rub-ons.

Giant Candy Bar Wrappers
Having 2 kids in Jr. High meant that I had 16 teacher appreciation gifts to come up with...... I had to go super easy and decided on the candy wrappers...
~When all else fails..... turn to chocolate~

Brown Paper Bag Book-Mania!
We went a little nutty with our little brown bag books! They are just so darn cute and easy we couldnt stop. These books can be made into anything ~ Vacation photos, school year, sports season, birthday party, bridal shower...... I could just keep going and going..... I insert all of the bags so that I am sure to use all the 'pockets'. They are perfect foe little keepsakes!
Wedding Shower Favors
I tried to come up with cute little favor boxes for my nieces wedding shower. I really liked the wedding gown box but when I put it together it screamed "BOWLING PIN"..... Not quite the look I was going for. After messing around with several different shapes and sizes I made a decision to go with the little purse box.

Birthday Activity Books
We made activity books for all the kids in Isaacs class to celebrate his birthday. The books had a dot-to-dot, 2 smiley face mazes, a word search (all the words were 'Isaac related') and a coloring page. I think they turned out pretty darn cute.
Favorite Memories Book
Favorite Memory Books for Teacher Appreciation Week........
All the kids in Isaacs class were asked to draw a picture of their favorite memory while in 1st grade. I made memory books with page protectors to keep all the art safe and easy to view.

Torn/Ripped Flowers.....
I came across a post and I saw these ripped flowers for the first time..... I was hooked! Thank you Leah! You are amazing!
This is my own little version ~ I used flowers from Memory Mixer and drew some flowers by hand and colored them. I torn them out and crinkled them up. I coated all of them with Mod Podge ~ I love the texture it creates.
Ta-Da totally unique flowers......
