Entry Organizer Bench

Lowes has this Bench Entry Organizer as a weekend project idea.  I love it.  Lowes offers full instructions on how to build this from scratch however, I think I can use this as inspiration for a nightstand repurposing project. Super cute.

Homemade Hard Water Remover

Homemade Hard Water Stain Remover

Yup, we have hard water issues, big ones.  I've used CLR in the past which works great however just the smell makes me uncomfortable.  I imagine the amounts of crazy chemicals that I'm using and inhaling.  Yikes.  Last year I came across this hard water remover recipe and I love it.  Heres the thing.... If you have a significant amount of stains, you know the big think nasty kind, well you will probably need to clean those first with a CLR type product.  This recipe is more for maintenance and small stains.

Using a 1:1 ratio
Using an empty spray bottle, combine liquid dawn and vinegar.
Place spray bottle (WITHOUT nozzle) in the microwave for a few seconds to warm.
Spray down the tub, shower, sink, etc.  Let sit for 5-10 min and then wipe away.
Yup, its that easy.

Homemade Leather Polish

Have you priced leather conditioner lately?  Holey Moley.  Insanely expensive.  I thought hmmmm, wonder if I could make my own?  I decided to Google it.  Wow, tons of different recipes online.  I read through countless posts in an effort to determine the common denominators, if you will.  I tried out a few different concoctions and finally came up with a fave.  Its brilliant.  Love it!

1/4 C. Olive Oil (I used extra virgin because that's what was in my pantry)
1/2 C. Vinegar
Essential oil of your choice (optional)

Simply pour all ingredients into a spray bottle and give a good shake.  Apply to leather and rub in using an old rag.  That's it.  So simple and the results are beautiful.

Initially I was concerned about the smell of vinegar and I wasn't sold on the idea that an essential oil could 'mask' it but I went ahead and gave it a go.  So stinkin' (pun intended) easy, and my leather sofas have never looked, or smelled, so good!  The whole living room smelled of clove which is probably my favorite scent ever.  Happy Camper Am I!

Herb Garden from Seed

Once again, BHG has great ideas for herb gardens.  I absolutely love starting my herbs from seeds, it feels like spring starts a little early!

Storage Strategies for your House Of Order

I started a mission almost 2 years ago to create my very own literal House of Order.  There are sooo many organization ideas out there so I try to post my favorites.

The number one thing about organizing is BABY STEPS, a little at a time.  It can become overwhelming but if you focus on something small, it will all add up. Before you know it, BAM, you are an organizational queen!  Winning!

Pallet Repurposing

I'm LOVING all the fun ideas people come up with for pallet repurposing.  Here are a couple pics of my latest faves.....

Coconut Oil and Sugar Body Polish

Seriously, this stuff is Heaven....  Its tropical oooh's and ahhhh's in a jar.

I've been making sugar scrub for years but this is so simple yet so yummy its definately my favorite.  Its simple and fast to make but leaves you feeling like you've spent hours at a day spa.  Perfect for those harsh winter months when our skin is begging for moisture and a little TLC.

2, yes TWO, ingredients...

Sugar
Organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil

There really isn't an exact recipe for this yumminess but I use approximately a 1:1.5 ratio.  As you start mixing it all together, rub a little in your hands and you decide what works best for you.

*A few drops of vanilla bean oil, citrus oil, or citrus zest blends beautifully with the coconut oil.
